Début Theatre School was established in 1995 and
soon became one of the leading Theatre Schools in Yorkshire. With over
400 students taking classes in Dance, Drama, Singing, TV, Stage Techniques,
Piano and Music Theory - Début provides something for everyone.
At Début we believe that the single most important skill that
children can learn is to communicate with others. Developing their ability
as communicators helps our students to learn, to get on with people and
to face the challenges ahead, whatever they choose to do when they leave
school. And what better way to communicate than through drama, dance,
song and music? It is, for many, the lifeblood of education!
In order to prosper, young people need to be inspired to learn and fun
lessons engage the minds and talents of our students, thus enhancing
their learning experiences. Our dynamic classes motivate youngsters -
they work collaboratively - their talents recognised and harnessed by
excellent, qualified teachers, with passion, commitment, creativity and
an abundance of energy! Some students, of course, need more support than
others. But whatever faces those who need extra support, our vision and
driving force remains the same - for every single young person to reach
their full potential and be successful in their chosen field of performing
arts.
Principals David Kirk and Jacqui Drake-Sweiss are renowned for their
work, both directing and choreographing in theatre. See their biographies for more information.
All classes are taught by specialists
in their own field and are closely linked to the National Curriculum.
At Début we have an 'inclusive'
policy - no audition necessary - only enthusiasm. Tuition takes place
in a friendly, secure, disciplined environment but with a great emphasis
on .
Placement of pupils into the appropriate classes is initially determined
by age/or experience. |
