Début Performing Arts Classes cover
all aspects of performance technique required for both stage and screen.
The forms of dance covered are basic ballet training, tap, modern and
jazz. The classes are mainly based upon 'Musical Theatre' and with that
in mind students also receive an element of group singing tuition. Specific
vocal coaching is taught as part of the singing curriculum.
The main structure of the performing arts classes are:
- Ballet barre exercises
- Central warm up
- Combinations of sequences of movement and steps
- Directions of movement, style, rhythm and tempo
- Choreographed routines
The above elements are taught by:
- Reference to The Royal Academy of Dancing and The New York City Ballet techniques
- Examination of choreagraphic styles (ie DeMille, Robins, Fosse and Stroman)
- Repetition of set exercises and steps
- Reference to a wide variety of musical scores
- Continuous appraisal
