The Début singing
curriculum encompasses individual and/or small group classes and incorporates
different styles of music. The many aspects of vocal technique comprise
the singing curriculum:
- Breathing
- Pitch
- Voice projection
- Rhythm
- Dynamics
Small group classes, (maximum 10 students), give the students the ability to express and develop their voices. Singing in this group environment involves harmonies in a choir and gospel setting in which the students are encouraged to express their own ideas as well as learning and developing a solid foundation for their 'instrument'. All these components are essential for any aspiring singer or actor. In the classes the students showcase many different styles of music with song and are encouraged to work towards performances given by the school and also amateur productions staged in our region.
One-to-one tuition gives the student a much more intense
look at developing their voice skills together with a solid technique. It
allows them to work on specific material and areas of their 'instrument'
in greater detail.
Our curriculum enhances the government's music curriculum, particularly
treatment of the voice as an 'instrument', added to the national curriculum
only this year. We cover many aspects of performing and appraisal through
our singing classes. |
